ADVENTURE – 12,000 lbs at 387 Amps
Average line speed over 100ft: 42 ft/Min
TITAN – 16,500 lbs at 389 Amps
Average line speed over 100ft: 34.8 ft/Min
The gearbox has been specifically designed for strength, power and ease of service.
The gears are manufactured from chromium molybdenum steel and case hardened to give maximum strength (Up to 1230 N/mm2) and excellent durability.
The gearbox runs in semi liquid grease not oil making it much easier to service, either in the workshop or while out in the bush on your over-landing trip.
The NOMAD2 is fitted with the RED Winches full drum disconnect freespool.
What is a full drum disconnect freespool? If you have ever had to pull rope from a lowline winch, you will have felt the resistance. This is because when you put a traditional lowline winch into freespool and pull the rope from the drum, you are not only rotating the drum, you are also rotating the gearbox assembly. This can make pulling the rope a difficult task. To the point where some users will just power the rope out with the motor rather than using the freespool function. Not only is this slower, but it is also consuming power from the vehicle’s batteries just before you start using the winch, and this is the exact time you want the batteries at maximum charge!
When the user puts the NOMAD2 into freespool, the drum is disconnected from the gearbox. The drum is supported in roller bearings, and the only resistance the user feels as they pull the rope from the drum is the very slightest resistance from the roller bearings. The result? No more two-handed pulls with one foot on the bumper. Just grab the rope and go!
To handle the power this winch can deliver for you, in all its options, the winch body is fully CNC machined from high-grade heat-treated aluminum solid billets.
No castings or injection mouldings are used. Protecting your investment in this winch from cracked housings, porosity issues or mounting failures.
We only use the best CNC machine tools and machining processes in our modern machine shop and manufacturing facilities, here int he UK. This is to ensure tolerances and stress in the parts is kept to a minimum and strength to its maximum.
The winch is controlled from a CNC machined black control box containing the Albright motor control solenoid and wireless receiver, that is supplied mounted on the winch but can be remotely mounted if you so wish. Remote mounting gives the winch a low profile appearance which is ideal for some winch bumpers or discrete mount options.
The drum is steel in construction, precision machined to run true and smoothly within its drum bearings. The drum runs between two drum seals (one each end), making the winch watertight and allowing the end-user to operate the winch underwater. The drum bearings are behind the drum seals and are free-running ball bearings, and filled with waterproof grease as an added second barrier from water ingress.
The NOMAD is fitted with a internal drum modern bi directional friction brake, running between a set of bearings for precise concentricity, reducing heat and increasing braking forces. Unlike some of our other winches, the NOMAD winch does not need any separate air supply to operate.
