Land Rover Defender (L663) Rear Selectable Air Locker with HD case and bearing upgrade *w/o factory locker*

Looking for a proper selectable locking rear differential that also adds strength? This is a great alternative to the failrue prone and overly complicated optional factory computer controlled variable locking clutched rear differential. We have developed a locking differential for the L663 that utilizes an ARB air locking carrier. These reliable and simple units will allow you to fully lock the rear differential with a press of a switch. This is designed to replace the current differential carrier in your factory non locking differential and replaces the current cast case half with a heavy duty cnc case half that holds a much larger carrier bearing and has the provisions for the air connection. This is also a great failsafe if you break a rear axle. You can still lock the rear and drive out. Try that with the factory locking diff.

There are 2 distinct differences in differentials found in the L663. MY 2020 has a rear differential with a pinion flange that uses 6 bolts to bolt the driveshaft CV joint to the pinion. The flange is held on by a collar nut. The 2021+ models do not have a pinion flange. They have an insert nut (coupling nut) setup. The differential pinion just has splines and the driveshaft CV joint connects to the pinion splines with a single large coupling nut. In this later setup, the ring gear is welded to the carrier vs the 2020 models which are bolted to the carrier. The later differentials require machining to cut the ring gear off and then holes have to be drilled and tapped to accommodate the air locker carrier. We need to have your differential sent out to us unless we have a core unit. Either way a core charge is applied to these differentials and they requre us to assemble. The 2020 models can be sent to us if wanted but can also be built by your trusted 4x4 shop to install as a kit.

Kit Includes all parts needed to install selectable air locker in your existing 2020 model year Defender 90/100 p300/p400. Professional installation is recommended. Air compressor and contolls are not included.
